Healthcare Provider Guidance

Asthma Management Guidelines and Resources

Asthma guidelines play an important role in guiding health care providers and patients by providing evidence-based recommendations for asthma management. Asthma can be managed and treated so your patients can live a happy and healthy life. See our resources below for more information.

The National Heart Lung and Blood Insitute (NHLBI) supported the development of the 2020 Focused Updates to the Asthma Management Guidelines. The guidance is designed to support informed, shared decision making among primary care providers, specialists, and patients about asthma management. The NHLBI also produced the 2020 Clinician's Guide summarizes the 2020 focused updates to help clinicians integrate the new recommendations into clinical care.

The Medical Home Portal

The Medical Home Portal also provides available resources utilized in Utah, Idaho, Montana, and New Mexico. Families, Physicians, medical home teams, and other professionals and caregivers can use the Medical Home Portal as a "one-stop shop" for information about asthma, local resources, and materials.

Utah Children's Care Coordination Network (UCCCN)

The UCCCN was established with the Medical Home Portal and is a source of information, resources, tools, expert advice, and peer learning and support for pediatric and family practice staff members who help coordinate the care of patients.

The UCCCN meets monthly. UCCCN Members can take advantage of the UCCCN email listserv to seek answers to questions, share ideas, and find support in between meetings. The UCCCN meetings are held every 3rd Wednesday of the month from 8:30-10:00 am.
